Developing, creating and authoring an internet based business, blog or website requires content. Lots of content. This is not a secret; even brand-new blog owners and website developers are aware of this fact.
“The Internet runs on content.”
Content satisfies peoples desire for information and knowledge. Good content can provide a blog or website with the search engine rankings it needs to attract even more visitors.
Getting a blog ranked high in the search results for relevant keywords and keyword phrases is the ultimate pay-off for a blog owner. From a single top ranked popular keyword or keyword phrase can stem many side benefits. Becoming ranked, especially in the Top Ten, is like sending up a signal flare to other blog owners that says, “Here I am… Come link to me.” The subsequent links equate to still more visits as those links, now spread over a wide swath of the Internet, are clicked on. And ranked content can boost the confidence and trust levels of customers and clients, resulting in more and greater sales for your company.
It’s obvious that good content directly benefits the blog owner; but what about the visitors and readers? Earlier I stated that the Internet runs on content. But that’s only partially true. What the Internet really runs on is relevant content. When a reader finds the information they were seeking, gaining the knowledge they were expecting, that website, and the search engine that brought them to it, just made a new “convert.”
If it weren’t for an algorithm that matched readers and the content they wanted on a regular basis, Google would be mentioned in the same paragraph as Northern Light, Teoma, AlltheWeb and Excite instead of by itself as the biggest and most used search engine…ever.
We’ve established that content is very important to a blog or website, and to business. To stay ahead in the game; to stay in the game at all, requires content. It’s here that we run into a dilemma… very few people like writing, much less reports or articles.
In fact, I know blog owners who would rather fall off of a roof into a thatch of poison ivy, needles and wasps than put pen to paper. For most blog owners, outsourcing article writing isn’t an option yet. The necessary resources are at least a few months away from being available. And attempting a foolish shortcut like copying the text from another blog is getting expensive, plus, having your site taken down for a few days, if not longer, can be embarrassing! But expensive is a relative term. Fines that can reach tens of thousands of dollars might not be considered expensive by some. Plagiarism however, is definitely looked down upon in the blogosphere, and I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for any awards at next years “Bloggies.” Besides, a worst-case scenario would involve that big fine as well as some jail time.
But wait a minute… No one should be going to jail because they couldn’t come up with some original content. There are solutions- you need to think outside of the box, not be afraid, color outside of the lines and get very, very creative.
So stay tuned… We will visit those solutions in the very next post!
Until then…
If you’re new or fairly new to building a business on the internet, a priority should be to learn the importance of one way back links. One-way links will enable you to succeed online. Yep. They are that important.
First, why do these links exist? They maintain continuity by “attaching” two pages of important content together.
These links are also referred to as an inbound link, ready to connect your favored site to another relevant site. Both the quality and the quantity of back links on your site will cause search engines to realize the importance of your site content.
Take some time to examine sites on Google that have extremely high page rank. You’ll soon see a pattern. These high ranked sites also have multiple back links. Sometimes these back links re-route visitors from a site with a high page rank to a page that may not have been able to reach a high stature. By introducing people to the lower ranked site you are helping this page to grow in popularity as well.
It’s important to remember that linking 2 pages that have nothing in common will do very little for either page. In order to “make sense” to the search engines the pages need to be relevant and current.
There are quite a few of us trying to make a statement by creating enough revenue online that we no longer need to work “off-line.” The economy has forced some to work full-time both online and off. If you want to get into profit as quickly as possible, there are specific steps you will need to take. Not suprisingly, one of those steps is to begin building online business relationships through back-linking. Patience will help your cause as well. A day, a week, even a month of a well-planned link campaign is not enough time to experience the results you will have just a few months later. And, link-building “builds” on itself. The more you have, the more valuable your site is to others. Soon, rather than asking, you’ll be responding to back-link requests.
Search engines use back links to help determine an accurate “value”, or rank, of a given page. The higher your page rank the more targeted visitors you’ll be able to draw to your website. Keep this aspect in mind when you are working your link-building campaigns.
The “Big Three” search engines also take into account the freshness and quality of content when determining a pages rank. Ensure that you are consistently updating your content as well as your back links. If you consistently keep the same content on your site you won’t attract as many Link Partners as you had planned on because they’re going to get bored. Put your whole self into your blog and let it be your voice. Keep updating the information-this gives you control on many different levels.
Back links are incredibly vital to you getting the correct amount of hits that you need on your personal site at one point. If you are uncertain about the way to incorporate the vast quantity of links onto your website you can always get assistance from a company that makes a specialty of building these links. There also are different tutorials that you can teach you the best way to build these desirable links.

As a former Journalist and wannabe hack, I find myself browsing the archives at quite a few Journalism/Journalist blogs. IMO they have the best “Best of…” lists, and as a fan of both WordPress and FireFox, I love “Best of…” lists. These lists are where you’ll find the best plug-ins, the best add-ons, the best themes, the best of…everything.
Most recently I found myself browsing OnlineJournalismBlog.com and discovered a list of 85 WordPress plug-ins… the focus is mainly on writers, but the majority of the plug-ins would be effective in any niche.
