The Internet Runs on Content. Search Engines Run on Good Content.

Developing, creating and authoring an internet based business, blog or website requires content. Lots of content. This is not a secret; even brand-new blog owners and website developers are aware of this fact.

“The Internet runs on content.”

Content satisfies peoples desire for information and knowledge. Good content can provide a blog or website with the search engine rankings it needs to attract even more visitors.

Getting a blog ranked high in the search results for relevant keywords and keyword phrases is the ultimate pay-off for a blog owner. From a single top ranked popular keyword or keyword phrase can stem many side benefits. Becoming ranked, especially in the Top Ten, is like sending up a signal flare to other blog owners that says, “Here I am… Come link to me.” The subsequent links equate to still more visits as those links, now spread over a wide swath of the Internet, are clicked on. And ranked content can boost the confidence and trust levels of customers and clients, resulting in more and greater sales for your company.

It’s obvious that good content directly benefits the blog owner; but what about the visitors and readers? Earlier I stated that the Internet runs on content. But that’s only partially true. What the Internet really runs on is relevant content. When a reader finds the information they were seeking, gaining the knowledge they were expecting, that website, and the search engine that brought them to it, just made a new “convert.”

If it weren’t for an algorithm that matched readers and the content they wanted on a regular basis, Google would be mentioned in the same paragraph as Northern Light, Teoma, AlltheWeb and Excite instead of by itself as the biggest and most used search engine…ever.

We’ve established that content is very important to a blog or website, and to business. To stay ahead in the game; to stay in the game at all, requires content. It’s here that we run into a dilemma… very few people like writing, much less reports or articles.

In fact, I know blog owners who would rather fall off of a roof into a thatch of poison ivy, needles and wasps than put pen to paper. For most blog owners, outsourcing article writing isn’t an option yet. The necessary resources are at least a few months away from being available. And attempting a foolish shortcut like copying the text from another blog is getting expensive, plus, having your site taken down for a few days, if not longer, can be embarrassing! But expensive is a relative term. Fines that can reach tens of thousands of dollars might not be considered expensive by some. Plagiarism however, is definitely looked down upon in the blogosphere, and I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for any awards at next years “Bloggies.” Besides, a worst-case scenario would involve that big fine as well as some jail time.

But wait a minute… No one should be going to jail because they couldn’t come up with some original content. There are solutions- you need to think outside of the box, not be afraid, color outside of the lines and get very, very creative.

So stay tuned… We will visit those solutions in the very next post!

Until then…

Pay Per Click Marketing Increases Targeted Website Traffic

by Richard Steaney

Pay per click marketing is one of the best advertising methods available today. You can put it to good use while driving more targeted traffic to your website. It is fairly inexpensive as well as effective. One of the most successful PPC options available is Google Adwords.

There is no doubt that using a pay per click program is a great idea but, like many things, it must be used in the correct way. If you want to use this method to bring in a flow of traffic, here are some useful tips to help you make the most of it. These tips will ensure that you use PPC successfully and effectively.

Target Your Traffic For One Product Only

If you want success using pay per click marketing, it is important to target traffic for one product only. If you promote everything at once, it will be more expensive and you will not be able to get the targeted traffic you need.

Just targeting one product is your best bet. When you draw in traffic to your website for one product and you are able to get their contact information, then you can cross sell to them. Going with keywords that are very focused is going to ensure that you get the most targeted results with your pay per click advertising campaign.

Research the Traffic Associated with Desired Keywords

Before bidding on your desired keywords you should research the traffic associated with them. You can better use your Google Adwords pay per click program when you use them. You can see the number of searches done each month in a specific area.

These are a good guide to use. However, some searches are not as popular as they were before. You will notice that any PPC keywords that get at least fifty hits or more monthly are well worth the money you spend on them.

Ensure Your Ad Copy is Eye Catching

Another important tip to make your pay per click marketing successful is to ensure that your ad copy is eye catching. If you have copy that is uninteresting and bland, your chances to get potential customers to click on the link go down. Interesting copy increases your chances of getting them to your site.

With your ad copy, you need to convince the customer that they need to visit your site. Show them what you are promoting. Remember, you want to get visitors that are actually interested. Giving something away for free can be an incentive that will get them to click as well.

Relevant Keywords Are Essential

You should only make use of relevant keywords in your pay per click advertising campaign. You should never bid on any keywords that are not relevant to your product or website. Certain keyword may obtain clicks, however if they are not from your targeted traffic you will not make the sales you are working for. Your campaign will not be successful by doing so.

Track How Keywords Perform

It is essential to your pay per click marketing for you to track your keyword performance. You will need to change your approach if you find they are not performing well for you. Those keywords that are successful you will keep while replacing those keywords that are not improving your results.
